Minimum Wages Act, 1948
The Minimum Wages Act, provides for prescribing the minimum rates of wages payable to the employees employed in Scheduled Employment as enumerated in the Schedule to the Act. It also provides maintenance of records and registers and hours of work overtime,
etc., in the interest of the workers. It provides penalty for the non-payment of Minimum rates of wages and non-maintenance of records. It also specifies Authorities for filing claim application for non-payment or less payment of minimum rates of wages under
the Act.
