Janshree Vima Yojana

A large number of unorganized labours are working in the State, who are not getting the benefits as received by the organized labour. Many of these unorganized labourers have annual income below poverty. Therefore initially the State of Maharashtra has decided to implement Janshree Vima Yojana through LIC to these workers. Accordingly, the Government vide Resolutions dt. 12-8-2004 & 24-10-2005 implemented the Scheme for these workers. This Scheme is sponsored by Central Government and the State has decided to bear 1/4th cost of the Scheme. This Scheme is applicable for labourer in the age group of 18 to 60 years who are below poverty line and also for those who are marginally above poverty line. The annual premium is of Rs. 200/- out of which Central Government under the Social Security Fund will pay Rs. 100/- per annum. The State Government will bear Rs. 50/- and remaining Rs. 50/- will be borne by the beneficiary.

In the financial year 2012-13, LIC has disbursed Rs.5,30,20,000/- to 1768 registered unorganized worker’ legal heirs due to natural death. Also LIC has disbursed Rs.75,45,000/- to 101 registered unorganized worker’ legal heirs due to accidental death. Also LIC has disbursed Rs.75,000/- to 02 beneficial due to partial/permanent disability of registered unorganized worker. At the same time LIC has released Scholarship of Rs. 16,02,00,600/- to 2,67,001 children of registered unorganized worker.

In the financial year 2013-14 upto December-2013, LIC has disbursed Rs.5,76,00,000/- to 1920 registered unorganized worker’s legal heirs due to natural death. Also LIC has disbursed Rs.94,50,000/- to 126 registered unorganized worker’ legal heirs due to accidental death. At the same time LIC has released Scholarship of Rs. 10,01,92,800/- to 1,66,988 children. As on 31.12.2013, Live Members of Janshree Vima Yojana are 2,82,450 (new registration and renewal).

During the financial year 2012-13, the premium of Rs. 6.84 Cores is paid to Life Insurance Corporation of India for the implementation of Janshree Bima Yojana. An outlay of Rs.9.60 Crore is sanctioned for the Annual plan 2013-14. An outlay of Rs. 1 Crore is sanctioned for the Annual plan 2014-15.
